Joan Jett - Now This Is Indie

Joan Jett uses new skool to talk about old skool.

Cadillac has started a campaign to build their brand image by making vids with famous and not-famous people who have a story to tell about their Caddy. One of them features Joan Jett. This is the stuff Music 2.0 and Web 2.0 pundits talk about -- musicians using advertising's $600 billion annual spend to promote, market and sell yourself.

So what does Joan do with her vid time? Tell you about how, in the early 80s, she and partner Kenny Laguna used record company rejection as a spur to make their own records, shove them in the Caddy next to the guitars, and sell them at her gigs. Until it got so big she had a hit record. Nice move, Joan.
